Roger Federer

Roger Federer was born in Switzerland on the date the 8th of August 1981 and he is a former tennis player. Federer was ranked number 1 for 310 weeks , including a record 237 consecutive weeks, and finished as the year-end No. 1 five times.

He won 103 singles titles which is the second most of all time. Federrer won his first grand slam at the age of 21 at Wimbledon. In 1998 he won the Wimbledon juniors in 1998 and he was a former ball boy. In the period of 2003 to 2009 played in 21 out of 28 major singles finals.

He won three of the four major championships, and he also won the ATP tour finals in the year 2004, 2006 and 2007 as well as five consecutive titles at both Wimbledon and the US Open. He then completed the Grand slam career in 2009 at the French Open after three runners up finishes to Rafa Nadal who was his main rival until 2010. In 2014 Stan Wawrinka and Roger Federer led Switzerland to their first Rod Laver title ever and then following with their gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Federer also got a silver at the 2012 London Olympics and finishing runner up to Andy Murray

In 2016 after a knee surgery, he came back and won three more majors over the

next three years. At the Australian Open in 2018 Roger Federer became the first man in

tennis to win 20 major singles titles and soon after the world’s oldest world number one.

In September 2022, he retired from professional tennis.
