​The Us Open is held in Queens, New York and it is the last Grand Slam of the year. The open era started in started in 1968 which meant that professional players were now allowed to compete for the first time. The Grand slam starts on the last Monday of August and then continues for two weeks. The tournament has five different championships: men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles. Since 1978 the tournament has been played on an acrylic surface at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Centre in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Queens, New York City.
It was first held on grass courts in 1881. During the first years of the tournament only men competed and was then known as the U.S. National Singles Championships for Men. In the grounds of the US Open there are 22 outdoor courts, 12 practice courts and the other courts that are in the stadium. Arthur Ashe stadium which is the most famous court there, which opened in 1997. From 1978 to date the Grand slam has been played on an acrylic court.

In 2006 a new system was invented for the US Open which was called instant replay which reviews line calls that used the Hawk eye system on the computer.
The total money in the 2023 US Open was £65,000,020 and it is the largest package out of all the grand slams. The US Open was the first grand slam to introduce the shot clock which shows the time taken by each player to serve the point, this way method of speeding up the point was introduced to all major tournaments in 2020
